About Produce Rx
In 2023, FISH and community partners launched a program called Produce Rx to increase patients’ access to fresh produce and empower them to make healthier food choices in order to manage and improve their health.
What are some expected benefits?
A healthy diet improves health outcomes and reduces healthcare costs for people who are pregnant or have chronic illness. However, many people in Kittitas County and Yakima County face barriers to accessing healthy foods like fruits and vegetables.
By improving patients’ access to fruits and vegetables, patients may experience benefits like:
- Lower blood sugar
- Lower blood pressure
- Fewer healthcare visits
- Lower healthcare costs
