Warehouse: The warehouse stores all the food and supplies necessary to run the Pantry. Warehouse volunteers stock shelves in the pantry, sort through produce, organize the warehouse, receive donations and store them, do some light cleaning and other duties as necessary. The ability to life 40 pounds is preferable, as is self-motivation. Shifts are 2 – 5 hours long and are weekly. Other schedules are possible.
Pantry: Grocery Guides help clients through the pantry during distribution. They encourage clients to make food choices, let them know what quantities they can have, and generally keep the flow of the pantry moving well. If you work as a Grocery Guide, you will need to be able to walk the full 2 – 2.5 hour shift on busy days. You will go in and out of the weather. You will need to be firm and friendly, and be able to follow state regulations.
Grocery Guide: Ready to invest one morning a week? FISH needs drivers to pick up day old and still good groceries from five partner stores on Mondays. You’ll need to have a clean driving record to use our great van, or you can bring your own truck if you’re more comfortable. You’ll need to be able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly and be able to make it every Monday. This is a great shift for a family or a pair, or go it alone!
Please follow up this commitment with an application to volunteer at FISH on our Volunteer Registration Page. Thank you!
