Programs

FISH runs a number of programs to help those in need in Kittitas county.

The Food Pantry

Each weekday, FISH gives away food to households in need.  This food comes from the federal government, the state government and wonderful community members.  Canned goods, dairy, fresh vegetables and fruits, juice, baked goods and other great items are available every day.  Every household is allow 2 trips through the pantry per month, and the head of the household needs to show an ID at the beginning of the trip.  While you wait, there are pastries, coffee and water available and of course air conditioning/heat!

Monday and Tuesday:   3:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Wednesday and Thursday:   1:30 PM – 3:30 PM

Friday:    9:00 AM – 11:30 AM

The Hot Meals Program

FISH serves warm, hearty, and nutritious meals 4 days of the week.  This program is 100% supported and funded by our community.  This year we will serve over 9000 hot meals to our hungry neighbors who come to share a meal with us for so many reasons…hunger, socialization, lack of cooking facilities, or no utilities.  Most importantly, at FISH, no one ever eats alone!

Lunch:   12:00 – 1:00 PM   Monday – Wednesday – Friday

Dinner:  5:00 – 6:00 PM   Saturday

Dinners on Saturday evenings are planned and prepared by different groups in the community.  We are so thankful for these volunteers!  If you or your team is interested in preparing and/or serving on Saturday night, please contact us at 509-925-5990.

The Hot Meals Program is open to anyone who would like to join us. There is no charge so please share a meal with us!

The Backpack Program

FISH partners with Ellensburg Presbyterian Church to bring bags of food for children’s backpacks.  These bags are passed out on Thursday and have enough food inside them to last each child through the weekend.  On Monday’s the children bring the bags back to be refilled for the next week.  Kids get nutritious meals and are ready to go back to school each Monday morning.

Any child who qualifies for the Free or Reduced Lunch Program can have a bag.  This past year, children at Mt. Stuart, Lincoln, and Mercer Creek After School Care were served.  However for the 2017-2018 school year, Valley View Elementary will be added.
